Derek Lucci - Founder & PresidentBorn and raised in New Hampshire, Derek Lucci brings more than two decades of experience as an actor, director, writer, visual artist and lead educator to his role as founder and director of Open Sky.
In addition to an extensive resume of commercial theater and television work, both in New York City and at venues across the country, Derek has developed a series of solo performance pieces adapted from the work of William Gaddis, J. M. Coetzee and David Foster Wallace. Formerly Head of Primary Training at New York University/Tisch Playwrights Horizons Theater School, Derek's teaching credits include positions at The Experimental Theater Wing (NYU/Tisch School for the Arts). He has served as a guest artist/lecturer at The Yale School of Drama Summer Conservatory, UMASS Amherst, University of Oklahoma, and at school and drama programs throughout New Hampshire. Derek Holds a B.A. in English/Theater from the University of New Hampshire, a certificate from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London (UK) and an M.F.A. in Acting from Yale School of Drama. Former Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court, John T. Broderick, Jr. served as Associate Justice of the court from 1995 to 2004 and as its Chief Justice from 2004 to 2010. Broderick holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross. Broderick also served as Dean and President of the University of New Hampshire School of Law until May 2015. Lisa Starnes started her career as a petroleum engineer and comes to us after 25 years as a consulting actuary for Milliman - a major international actuarial consulting firm - working in Houston, London and New York, finishing up as a Principal Partner of the firm. Lisa specialized in group health - and consulted in all risk and financial related matters in the group health world (largely pricing and reserving) for a wide spectrum of health benefit clients: health insurers, capitated Medicaid plans, hospitals, hospital owned health plans, physician groups, large employers, etc. In short, Lisa is a focused numbers person and although not an accountant, she understands financials well and easily navigates earned income statements, cash flow and balance sheets and is excited and happy to do the technical work to set up our 501(c)(3). Raised in Suncook, NH, Sandra is the Executive Administrator of the Legal Department at BAE systems electronic systems sector in Nashua, British owned BAE is the third largest defense company worldwide. Sandy has been with them for almost forty years. Sandy lives in Merrimack where she raised two boys as a single mother, both of whom have become successful contributors to society. Sandy trained and volunteers at Home Health and Hospice Care. She works out every day, rain, or shine, at the gym, on her bike, hiking or at the track. Susan Brown
Susan Brown, LCMHC, MLADC, currently works as a Lead Clinician and Trainer at Forge VFR Health, providing mental health and substance use treatment to currently serving military members, veterans, and first responders. Sue received her master’s degree from Antioch New England Graduate School, and she has worked in the mental health and substance use field for 30 years. She has worked in several clinical settings, including but not limited to; community mental health, corrections, acting as the Director of Psychological Health for the NH National Guard, inpatient psychiatric and substance use treatment, and teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate level. She brings a broad range of experience and passion to her work. She has volunteered on the Granite State Critical Incident Team for over 20 years, she volunteered as an EMT-I for 10 years, and she is a member of the Southern NH Regional CISM and Peer Support Team. jeni mahoney
Jeni is a playwright, dramaturg, teacher, and artistic director with a special interest in the development of new work. As Producing Artistic Director of Seven Devils New Play Foundry, and founder of Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, she has created and implemented programming that has been instrumental in the development of more than 240 new American plays by Pulitzer Prize winners, emerging voices, high school students and everything in between. Since 2001, plays developed at Seven Devils have gone on to productions on Broadway and off-Broadway and at professional theaters around the world. Jeni's plays have been presented at the National Playwrights Conference at the O'Neill Center, InterAct Theater, Greenwich Playhouse (London), L.A. Theater Center, the Lark Playwrights Week, Rattlestick, Circus Theatricals, Key City Public Theater, Boston Theater Marathon and Boise Contemporary Theater, among others. She was twice named to the Kilroy List of Playwrights (2014 and 2015) and the world premiere of her play Fata Morgana was the recipient of an Artworks Grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Jeni a is member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the National Theatre Conference and was inducted into the IndieTheatre Hall of Fame in 2014. She has served as an adjudicator for the National Endowment for the Arts theatre funding program and is on the Board of Directors for Fleischer Studios, Inc., where she serves as Head of Digital Media and and Animation Historian.
